SymplySPARK XT is a combination of a hyper-efficient Thunderbolt RAID array with hyper-efficient Seagate drives in MACH.2 technology
By using Seagate MACH.2 hard drives, SymplySPARK XT is able to provide the speed of SSD drives from an array with SAS HDD drives. MACH.2 drives use innovative Multi-Actuator technology to increase read and write performance. Regular hard drives consist of a series of platters with a read/write head (actuator) floating above them.
A second actuator has been added to MACH.2 drives, which allows for increased read/write action with each turn of the platter. In other words: doubling the number of input/output operations (IOPS) per second.
Spark XT – Perfect for an 8K+ work environment
MACH.2 hard drives are the future of storage. Multi-Actuators provide a huge increase in performance and lower total cost of ownership.
When it comes to SymplySPARK XT, the benefits are immediately visible. Each MACH.2 drive has a capacity of 14 TB. SPARK XT ships with eight drives arranged in RAID 5, providing 98 TB of configured capacity.
And its performance is stunning. Tests conducted using popular benchmark tools from AJA, ATTO and Blackmagic showed read speeds of up to 2,952 MB/s and write speeds of 1,977 MB/s. In real-world applications, you can expect sustained read and write speeds of ~2000 MB/s*. This is more than sufficient for the most demanding 8K+ workflows, VFX, simulation and complex file acquisition and delivery.

Quiet library
SymplySPARK XT has been designed from the ground up to work in studio environments and on film sets. It uses a larger fan than most shuttle RAID systems, so it can spin slower to provide the required cooling, while generating less than 45 dB of noise - quieter than the average library.
