According to the HootSuite report, the percentage of the world's population with Internet access reached 57 percent in 2019 - more than 4.4 billion people. It was also revealed that more than 360 million people connected to the Internet for the first time in 2018, at an average rate of more than 1 million people per day. With each new user generating gigabytes of data via email, browsing, social media, etc., it's easy to see how quickly demand for storage will increase in the coming years.
In 2018, analyst group IDC predicted that by 2025, the total data space will grow from 33 to 175 zettabytes, with IoT devices alone expected to account for more than 90 zettabytes of that total. Even more staggering, the entire global population is expected to generate as much as 463 exabytes of new data every day by 2025. To meet this growing need, data storage will have to be abundant and cheap, with low energy requirements - all characteristics of tape storage.

Qualstar Q8 Entry-Level LTO Tape Library. Hundreds of terabytes in a 1U size
Like all Q Series models, the Q8 Entry-Level LTO Tape Library is designed with reliability and customer convenience in mind, offering simple installation and easy maintenance. Its 1U-high enclosure can be rack-mounted, and the Q8 offers capacities of up to 144 terabytes (native) or 360 terabytes (compressed). The built-in menu-driven operator control panel is intuitive and easy to use. The same functionality is also available through an integrated, browser-based Remote Management Interface (RMI) that allows IT administrators to remotely configure, manage and diagnose the library from anywhere in the world. All field-replaceable components - such as the tape drive, power supply and controller board - can be removed using standard tools.

Qualstar Q40 Mid-Range & Enterprise LTO Tape Library.High-performance, scalable tape backup
The Qualstar Q40 Mid-Range & Enterprise LTO Tape Library is designed for simplicity and reliability, providing superior performance and scalability to expand data storage and long-term archiving requirements.
The Q40 system offers capacity scaling from 40 to 640 cartridge slots and capacity scaling from one to 48 tape drives. The Q40 uses LTO-7, LTO-8 or LTO-9 tape drives, and each 3U high Q40 library module provides up to 720 terabytes (LTO-9, native) or up to 1.8 petabytes (LTO-9, compressed) of capacity. The Q40 base unit can be expanded with up to fifteen additional modules, creating a single library system with up to 28.8 petabytes (LTO-9 compressed) of capacity in a single 48U rack. Qualstar Enterprise Rackmount LTO Tape Library. Modular system with capacities from 2.4 TB to 16.8 PB
The Qualstar Q80 Enterprise Tape Library is designed for simplicity and reliability, providing superior performance and scalability to expand data storage and long-term archiving requirements. The Q80 system offers capacity scaling from 80 to 560 cartridge slots and capacity scaling from 1 to 42 tape drives. The Q80 uses LTO-7, LTO-8 or LTO-9 tape drives, and each 6U tall Q80 library module can provide up to 1.44 PB (native LTO-9 capacity) or up to 3.6 PB (compressed LTO-9 capacity). The Q80 base unit can be combined with up to six additional expansion modules to create a single library system that can store up to 25.2 PB (compressed) in a single 42U rack. The Q80 uses a single robot to handle all drives and media, maximizing cost efficiency.
