EDID Emulation – What Is It and Why Should You Choose AV...

When working with multiple computers using a KVM switch, one of the most common issues is the need to re-detect the monitor after switching the signal source. This can result in changes to the resolution, icons shifting on the desktop, application windows moving to different locations, and sometimes even a temporary loss of the image. The solution to this problem is EDID Emulation technology, available in professional AV Access iDock KVM switches offered by Abart Pro.

Unleash the power of Thunderbolt 5: Boost your Mac's performance with the new OWC THUNDERBOLT 5 docking station.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the all-new OWC Thunderbolt 5 docking station, the most advanced single-cable port hub to date. The OWC Thunderbolt 5 docking station, along with a certified Thunderbolt 5 cable, is now available from Abart Pro Sp. z o.o.. It provides the bandwidth and expandability of the new generation of Thunderbolt, while maintaining 100% backward compatibility with any Mac equipped with Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, USB4, and USB-C connectors.

In the following sections, we will discuss:

  • Why Mac users — new or old — should be interested in this.
  • A quick overview of all ports and power specifications.
  • A simple guide to Thunderbolt 5 and how this latest technology outperforms Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 3.
  • Pricing, availability, and why this dock secures your desk for the future.
  • Plug it in and see what one cable can really do.

Why Apple Mac users should care

If you've already invested in one of Apple's latest Thunderbolt 5 Macs — such as the MacBook Pro M4, Mac Studio, or Mac mini M4 Pro — you may be wondering if a docking station still makes sense. The short answer: absolutely yes.

These computers still only have a few physical ports, and every one you sacrifice for a single display or SSD means you lose one for charging your phone, connecting a camera card, audio interface, or other device.

Ports and power supply included with the OWC Thunderbolt 5 station:

  • 4x Thunderbolt 5 / USB-C (80 Gb/s data, 120 Gb/s display, 15W charging of connected devices)
  • 2x USB-A 10 Gb/s + 1x USB-A 5 Gb/s
  • 2.5 GbE RJ45 Ethernet (MDM ready)
  • SD and microSD UHS-II ver. 4.0 slots
  • 3.5 mm combo audio jack
  • 140W power supply for the host
  • Supports up to three daisy chain connections for drives, displays, or specialized equipment

Thunderbolt 5 – how it differs from older generations

Thunderbolt 5 doubles the base bandwidth of Thunderbolt 3 and 4, increasing it from 40 Gb/s to 80 Gb/s of simultaneous upstream and downstream bandwidth.

For tasks that require high computing power, such as editing on three monitors or VR equipment, Thunderbolt 5 can automatically allocate bandwidth to increase display bandwidth to 120 Gb/s, ensuring smooth 8K HDR playback. PCIe bandwidth is treated the same way, increasing from 32 Gb/s to 64 Gb/s, allowing external NVMe arrays, capture cards, and other accessories to run more smoothly.

Most importantly, the updated standard remains fully compatible with previous generations of Thunderbolt and USB-C, so you won't lose connectivity with any peripherals when you connect this dock to an older Mac. All this power is delivered via a single cable, which also provides power to your laptop at up to 140W.
