SymplyPRO Ethernet LTO devices are a revolutionary range of high-performance LTO devices designed for data archiving via Ethernet connectivity. SymplyPRO Ethernet LTO is designed for Ethernet-based and demanding work environments, including media and entertainment, business, enterprise and data centers. SymplyPRO Ethernet LTO devices build on the existing SymplyPRO LTO family, providing organizations with secure, shared access to LTO tape drives over a 10 GbE Ethernet network.

All SymplyPRO Ethernet configurations support Linear Tape File System (LTFS). It enables simple drag-and-drop file handling, similar to a conventional hard drive. LTFS can reduce the need for backup or archiving software and allows organizations to easily protect and exchange data using LTO cartridges.

T he heart of these devices is an efficient ARM processor, enabling lightning-fast processing of commands and data on various paths. This results in maximum block transfer sizes to LTO drives over Ethernet, while integrated data acceleration technology ensures optimal performance without burdening the host system's compute resources. As a result, SymplyPRO Ethernet devices deliver a remarkable 20% performance improvement over conventional LTO drives with a SAS interface.

Better data protection thanks to network performance 

SymplyPRO Ethernet LTO devices represent a significant step forward in data protection operations. Thanks to seamless integration with existing networks, these devices eliminate the need for dedicated and expensive servers. The result is improved data protection workloads distributed across the network, providing easily accessible, high-speed access to the renowned Linear Tape-Open (LTO) technology, now in its 9th generation (LTO-9). With dedicated Dual 10Gb Ethernet network connectivity, client systems can achieve aggregate performance of up to 2000 MB/s when reading or writing to LTO devices.

Unrivaled configuration flexibility  

SymplyPRO Ethernet appliances are available with half-height LTO-7, LTO-8 and LTO-9 drives in single- and dual-drive configurations in desktop and 1U rackmount or 2U rack systems with full-height LTO-9 drives offering native performance up to 400 MB/s per drive and higher endurance.
Two 10Gb Ethernet SFP+ interfaces provide flexibility in network connectivity. The device can support an additional two LTO drives via SymplyPRO SAS LTO, for a total of four LTO drives, or the device can be connected to an LTO tape library installed with one or two LTO drives, providing maximum flexibility.

Symply CableLess technology

All SymplyPRO Ethernet LTO devices use Symply CableLess™ technology - a unique design that allows LTO drives to be easily removed, making them easy to service and upgrade. Customers can start with one LTO drive in a desktop or rack system and add an additional drive in less than a minute, without having to power down the system. Similarly, for servicing, in the unlikely event of a drive failure, the failed drive can be removed without having to shut down the entire system. Only the damaged disk needs to be returned for repair. Easy.
