Some computers - such as the latest MacBook Pro® and Mac mini® (with M4 Pro and M4 Max) and Mac Studio® (with M4 Max and M3 Ultra) - have multiple Thunderbolt 5 ports, which are supported by separate 80 Gbps Thunderbolt buses and provide up to 6,000 MB/s PCIe throughput through each port for maximum performance when connected to Sonnet Echo II DV systems.

Among multi-slot Thunderbolt expansion systems for PCIe cards, Sonnet Echo II DV Thunderbolt 5 products are unique. Rather than using a single Thunderbolt interface for two or three slots - which dynamically allocates PCIe bandwidth between them - Echo II DV Thunderbolt 5 products contain two PCIe card slots and use one Thunderbolt interface per slot, so each slot receives full PCIe Thunderbolt 5 bandwidth. When connected to the two Thunderbolt 5 ports on a computer, Echo II DV Thunderbolt 5 products utilise the full potential performance of two cards, ideally suited for high-bandwidth-demanding cards such as DV I/O, NVMe SSD storage and multi-port 25Gb Ethernet adapters.

At the heart of all Echo II DV Thunderbolt 5 products, this module features two PCIe 4.0 x16 slots; accommodates full-height and full-length PCIe cards (up to 12.28 inches); and connects them to the computer's Thunderbolt ports via two included Thunderbolt 5 (120 Gbps) cables. The module has two ultra-quiet fans, as well as a 400W universal power supply and two additional 75W power connectors for non-GPU cards that require additional power. This system integrates the Echo II DV Thunderbolt 5 module into a robust 2U steel rackmount enclosure for robust and secure protection. The Echo II DV Thunderbolt 5 Rackmount, which includes adjustable extension rails, can be easily integrated into a variety of racks from 16 to 24 inches deep. With the Echo II DV Thunderbolt 5 module occupying half of the enclosure, an additional Echo module can be installed for even more expansion in the same rack space.
