Thunderbolt and USB protocol w ONE RAID Storage
The existing Thunderbolt 3 port on the RAID storage does not support the computer's USB-C port compatibility mode. Areca's latest ARC-8050T3U Thunderbolt 3 port supports both Thunderbolt 3 and USB protocols, allowing users of computers with USB and Thunderbolt ports to seamlessly access the same storage.
Ultra-fast transfer speed, unprecedented performance
ARC-8050T3U 6/8/12-bay RAID storage is built to deliver unprecedented performance, using only carefully selected, best-in-class components. These include a dual-core ROC processor, PCIe Gen3 x8 interface, 12Gb/s SAS interface, on-board SDRAM cache with ECC protection and the latest USB-C ports with Thunderbolt3 support up to 40Gb/s, two external 4K UHD displays.
Powerful Broadcom 12G SAS engine
The ARC-8050T3U 6/8/12-bay RAID storage integrates the latest Broadcom Dual-Core 12Gb/s SAS Raid-on-Chip to deliver maximum SAS and SATA bandwidth and protection needed to easily handle even the most challenging workloads.
A true hardware RAID controller
At the heart of the ARC-8050T3U 6/8/12-bay RAID array is the extremely efficient dual-core Broadcom ROC controller, ensuring you get the performance you want without any effort. It provides true hardware RAID functionality without sharing CPU processing power on the host system, and reduces CPU load compared to software RAID and when rebuilding the array in the event of disk failure.
Fast built-in cache
Thanks to the huge built-in fast SDRAM memory, ARC-8050T3U ensures super smooth multitasking during periods of high congestion in a 4K environment. The ARC-8050T3U can configure the amount of SDRAM cache to be read and written. If your server application has significantly more reads than writes, or more writes than reads, you may need to change this setting to adjust the read/write cache ratio to improve performance. The large cache is the perfect choice for a 4K application drive, making professional applications run as fast as possible.
Professional connectivity
The ARC-8050T3U is equipped with two Thunderbolt™ 3 ports for connecting to any Thunderbolt 3-capable host and offers an additional Thunderbolt 3 port for daisy-chaining other peripherals while providing power to quickly charge your notebook. Thunderbolt 3 supports data transfer rates of up to 40 Gbps, which is twice the bandwidth of Thunderbolt 2 and 4 times the bandwidth of USB 3.2 Gen 2.
Daisy-chain multiple devices
Thunderbolt daisy-chaining allows for up to six devices to be connected, allowing customers to connect the ARC-8050T3U to massive amounts of video storage using a single Thunderbolt connection to their host computer. Additionally, the ARC-8050T3U supports a full-size DisplayPort video output connector on the rear, allowing for quick and easy setup of an 8K 30Hz display
Encryption mechanism based on hardware controller
Host-independent, controller-based real-time hardware encryption does not impact ARC-8050T3U-6/6M/8/12 RAID storage performance and can be deployed to any type of hard drive that is transparent to the user, operating system and applications. Areca's encryption feature protects sensitive, critical volume data from unauthorized access or modification in the event of drive theft, as well as more routine actions such as returning damaged drives for service or decommissioning or repurposing drives. Local key management in the controller aims to protect data from security breaches with minimal cost and complexity. User can use the ARC-8050T3U RAID storage API code to design their own key management tool. ARC-8050T3U RAID storage supports 128- and 256-bit encryption keys using AES (128 or 256 bit key size) or password (variable key size).
SED-based encryption
The Areca firmware security feature, along with Self-Encrypting Drives (SED), protects data on hard drives from unauthorized access or modification due to theft, loss or repurposing of drives. Protection is achieved by the SED hard drive, which automatically and continuously encrypts data on the drive without user interaction.
SAS expansion port
The storage capacity of the ARC-8050T3U-6/6M/12 can be instantly expanded by adding additional cost-effective ARC-4038 12G SAS expanders, up to 512 drives with multiple 12G SAS expanders such as 8/12-bay 16/24-bay tower or solutions JBOD 12G SAS for rack mounting! Ultimately, this allows you to convert 12G SAS expander storage for use with any Thunderbolt 3-capable host.
An effective management tool
Areca provides more flexible tools to manage and monitor ARC-8050T3U RAID storage compared to other competitors.
– LCD: Easy setup and LCD monitor
Instantly monitor system status at a glance
The ARC-8050T3U LCD display is the main user interface for RAID storage. All configuration and management of the controller and its properly connected disk arrays can be performed from this interface. The LCD status panel reports the real-time working status of the ARC-8050T3U RAID storage at a glance, so users can easily grasp the system status at all times.
LAN port: Out-of-band management (without interfering with host access)
Allows you to configure and manage RAID storage via a web browser manager and ArcSAP.
The ARC-8050T3U RAID storage also offers an alternative out-of-band management method to the McRAID storage manager. The user can access the built-in configuration without having to use an ArcHTTP proxy on the host system. The ARC-8050T3U Series RAID storage has an RJ-45 connector on the back for out-of-band management. Using this dedicated management channel, you can monitor and manage ARC-8050T3U Series RAID storage without a host connection. It will also not disrupt host access when monitoring or managing the ARC-8050T3U. The advantage of the ARC-8050T3U is the Gigabit Ethernet connectivity option, which can be a lifesaver in the event of a Thunderbolt port failure or lack of access to an Apple-supported device.
Thunderbolt bus
It allows you to configure and manage RAID storage using the In-band web browser manager and ArcSAP tool
In-band management can be configured to communicate over the Thunderbolt data path between the data host and the ARC-8050T3U. In-band management uses the HTTP management proxy agent (ArcHTTP) software running on the data host to communicate with the ARC-8050T3U.
Management via a web browser
McRAID Storage Manager is a firmware-based utility that is accessible through a web browser installed on the operating system. The browser-based McRAID storage manager is an HTML-based application that uses the browser (Safari, IE and Mozilla, etc.) installed on the monitoring station. It can be accessed via an in-band Thunderbolt bus and an out-of-band Ethernet port. The Thunderbolt bus method can run the browser-based McRAID storage manager through an ArcHTTP proxy.
User-friendly graphical management
The Areca Single Admin Portal (ArcSAP) quick manager is an alternative graphical device management program designed specifically to manage and configure RAID units implemented using any Areca RAID controller. ArcSAP quick manager can scan multiple RAID units on local and remote systems and provide an efficient RAID unit configuration mechanism.
Integrated 4-pin XLR power connector
On the back of the ARC-8050T3U-6M there is a standard 4-pin male XLR connector to power the device with +11.5 ~ 15.5 V DC. You can use an AC adapter or a rechargeable battery that can operate anywhere while providing power to quickly charge your notebook. The battery solution is designed for use in the field when power outlets are not available. The most common DC power convention on ARC-8050T3U-6M 4-pin XLR connectors is:
