The 12 Gb/s SAS interface supports both 12 Gb/s SAS drives for data-intensive applications and SATA 6 Gb/s drives for low-cost bulk reference data storage. ARC-1216-4i/4x and ARC-1226-8i/8x RAID Controllers only support direct connection of 4/8 SAS/SATA drives with no expansion support. The ARC-12×6 series supports 1GB of onboard DDR3-1600 SDRAM by default.
