Symply Announces LTO-10 Upgrade to SymplyPRO Tape Portfolio

Symply Announces LTO-10 Upgrade to SymplyPRO Tape Portfolio Enabling Massive Backup and Archival Capacities

World’s First Ethernet and Thunderbolt LTO-10 Solutions

Cambridge, 27th May 2025 — Symply today announced the rollout of support for the latest generation of LTO-10 Enterprise Technology across its comprehensive Tape Portfolio, including standalone and modular tape library solutions designed for high-capacity backup and archival needs.

The upgraded SymplyPRO lineup now supports LTO-10, the newest advancement in Linear Tape-Open (LTO) technology, offering unparalleled storage capacity and performance. This includes:

SymplyPRO Ethernet – Desktop and Rackmount standalone LTO drives with 10Gb Ethernet connectivity.

SymplyPRO Thunderbolt – Desktop and Rackmount standalone LTO drives with Thunderbolt & SAS connectivity.

SymplyPRO XTL 40 and 80 – Mid-range and Enterprise modular tape libraries featuring SAS, Fibre Channel, Ethernet, and Thunderbolt interfaces.

The Power of LTO-10

LTO-10 enables a massive increase in capacity, reaching up to 30TB uncompressed and 75TB compressed per cartridge. The enterprise full-height drives have a native performance of up to 400MB/Sec, making the technology an ideal solution for AI, CSPs, MSPs, as well as organizations handling large datasets in industries such as media and entertainment, life sciences, healthcare, research, and financial services.

Key Benefits of LTO-10 Technology Include:

High Capacity – 30 TB Uncompressed and 75 TB Compressed. Perfect for large-scale data storage and long-term archiving.

Simplified Data Access and Management – Leveraging the open, simple format of LTFS (Linear Tape File System)

Enhanced Security – LTO allows for Air-gapping, providing a physical separation from digital threats, such as ransomware.

Cost-Effective and Green – A reliable and economical solution for long-term data protection and preservation, with the advantage of being the greenest storage technology available.

Keith Warburton, CEO of Symply, commented, “LTO-10 is a sea change in technology with a completely new design, including new head technology, and new media substrate, making it possible to store these massive capacities on a single cartridge. After months of intensive development and testing, we’re proud to deliver LTO-10 across our entire SymplyPRO range. The combination of LTO-10’s massive capacity with our diverse connectivity options – Thunderbolt, Ethernet, SAS, and Fibre Channel – gives customers unprecedented flexibility in how they architect their backup and archive workflows. Whether it’s a single desktop unit or a large-scale library deployment, this positions Symply at the forefront of next-generation enterprise storage.”
